GAME PLAY (PER POSITION)

BALL “IN PLAY”

KICKER-BLINDFOLDED

● The goal of the kicker is to kick the ball inside the base foul lines and beyond than the designated foul arc. Any ball that does NOT reach the foul arc is a foul ball and considered a “strike”. As in baseball and beep baseball, a batter may not strike out on a third strike foul ball.

● A sighted player/coach/staff member places ball on home plate to kick.

● The kicker may kick the ball via a place kick, a running place kick or pick up the ball for a punt kick. The kicker may not go beyond the home plate. If the player kicks the ball and goes beyond home plate, the umpire shall call a strike.

● As in baseball, the kicker receives THREE strikes in their kick attempt. A strike occurs if the kicker misses the ball or kicks a “foul” ball (e.g., ball does not go beyond foul arc or stay within the 1st or 3rd base lines).

● Upon kicking the ball, the kicker listens for one of the bases to buzz (signaled by an umpire) and then runs and tags the base. If the kicker reaches the buzzing base before a defensive fielder controls and holds the ball, a “run” is awarded to the offensive kicking team.

● If the kicker tags the incorrect buzzing base, he or she is considered out.

FIELDERS-BLINDFOLDED

● There can be a MAXIMUM of 5 defensive fielders and as few as 4.

● Once the ball is kicked, the fielders can and should communicate with each other.

● The fielders must have the ball in hand and off the ground before the runner touches the base to make an out. As in beep baseball, if the defensive player holds the ball up at the same time the kicker touches the base. Tie goes to the defense.

FIELD SPOTTER-SIGHTED

● Assists the fielders in getting positioned in the field and returning after each play

● Alerts his team as to which section of the field the kicked ball is coming towards

● The field spotter calls out the name or number of the player the ball is approaching

● The field spotter can stop play to avoid collisions and request time outs

● The field spotter can communicate information about the kicker (i.e., left footed, big kicker, etc.)

● There can be one or two field spotters

FIRST AND THIRD BASE SAFETIES-SIGHTED

● Makes sure the runners don’t collide with anything or anyone by calling STOP

● Guides the kicker back home after running if needed

● Stands between home plate and the base and visually follows the runner

FIELD SAFETY-SIGHTED

● Makes sure the fielders don’t collide with anyone or anything by calling STOP

● Stands behind fielders

UMPIRES-SIGHTED

● Before each new kicker, home plate umpire, who stands to the side of home base, announces “READY IN THE FIELD” and the field spotter replies “READY IN THE FIELD” and it’s up to the Field Spotter whether the fielders count off.

● Then the home plate umpire says “QUIET” to the players and spectators to notify everyone of the start of play so players can hear the beeping and buzzing.

● The home plate umpire then hands the beeping ball to the kicker and says PLAY BALL and the kicker kicks the ball.

● First and third base safeties double as base umpires and call HERE and raise their arms upon the runner tagging the base

● The FIELD UMPIRE listens for the HERE while watching the fielders and calls OUT or SAFE
